Scope
This document describes environmental test methods for optical and photonic contamination testing. Note: The meaning of "contamination" in this document is the contact of corrosive chemical substances 1) (hereinafter referred to as "reagents") with optical and photonic instruments. This document applies to optical and photonic instruments, including contamination tests from other fields (such as mechanical, chemical and electronic equipment). This document is not intended to be used as a normal production control.
Introduction

Core changes in the standard revision

Version Terminology Test category Marking system
GB/T12085.12-2010 "Optical instruments" 6 major test sections Directly quoted by ISO
GB/T12085.12-2022 "Photonic and electronic instruments" Expanded to 17 categories of tests GB/T framework integration

Interpretation of core test methods

Test equipment specifications

Gasket materials must meet the following requirements

  • Mass density 0.25~0.30g/cm3
  • pH value 5-8 (determined according to Appendix A)
  • Nine-point layout design

Detailed explanation of the four major test conditions

Test methods Typical reagents Exposure time Failure criteria
Method 86 Artificial hand sweat composite solution 1-7 days Discoloration ≤ Level 2
Method 87 Sulfuric acid/xylene 15-45 minutes Corrosion depth ≤5%

Implementation and application suggestions

Enterprise application guidance program

  1. Standardization of detection cycle: cutting fluid emulsification test is not less than 6 hours continuous exposure
  2. Stainless steel weights should be made of grade O Cr18 Ni9 or above
  3. Key monitoring points for three types of extreme environments: (high temperature and humidity/acid mist and salt mist/mechanical vibration)
